Notes and Disclaimers

Domain name registration is sometimes complicated or confusing for people not familar with how the entire Domain Registration system works. We have a few guildlines, warning, and disclaimers you should know about before registering a domain name.
  • Regardless of what anyone tells you, the domain name is registered and belongs to the company, organization, or individual listed on the registration.
  • Registration of domain names are handled by a third party company called a "Domain Registrar", and in turn they are overseen by a global organization called ICANN. A list of ICANN accredited domain registars is available at: http://www.internic.net/regist.html.
  • ChurchServe is NOT a domain registrar, but instead, resells or uses the services of an ICANN accredited domain registrar. Currently, we are using DirectI.
  • ChurchServe does not own your domain. You are free to manage your domain as you see fit. ChurchServe provides the initial registration of the domain as a service for new websites hosted with us.
  • We do accept transferred domains, but we cannot accept them if they are expired or locked in some way (either by you or the current registar).
  • We cannot refund any unused part of a domain transfer -- either to or away from us.
  • Domain registration and transfer fees are non-refundable.
  • It is the responsibility of the owner of the domain to keep the registration current and paid on time. Some registrars will hold an expired domain for a short time until it is released again into the public. Even so, some registars will charge extra to "release" the domain name.
  • Registrations of non-US country specific Top Level Domains (cTLDs) require the use of a third party. Also, specific Top Level Domains that are governed by a specific registry, also require a third party.
